China's First Batch of Aid in Power Equipment Handed Over to South Africa in Official Ceremony

Johannesburg, December 1 (Xinhua) – The handover ceremony for China's inaugural batch of power assistance to South Africa took place on November 30 in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal province. Approximately 300 attendees, including Chen Xiaodong, China's Ambassador to South Africa, South African Presidency Minister of Power Ramokopa, Deputy Minister of Health Delomo, and representatives from various sectors, participated in the event.

In his address, Ambassador Chen Xiaodong highlighted the ongoing power shortages in South Africa since the beginning of the year. In response, China swiftly decided to provide emergency power equipment, technical experts, professional consultations, and personnel training to assist South Africa in alleviating its power crisis. The power equipment handover ceremony is a significant step in implementing the outcomes of the Chinese leadership's visit to South Africa.
